A few days after the start of the wave of refunds for games purchased on Google Stadia, the Mountain View giant has revealed all the details on how and when the amounts spent on the hardware can be obtained.
Anyone who bought the Founders Edition o to Premiere Edition of Google Stadia (with the exception of promotions related to video games such as Resident Evil Village and Cyberpunk 2077, which allowed you to receive controllers and Chromecasts for free), in fact, you will be able to receive the entire amount spent without having to return the purchased items. Everyone else will be able to keep the items but will not receive a refund, since they received the devices at no extra cost.
Here is the content of the mail sent to purchasers of any version of Stadia:
“On September 29, 2022, Google announced that the Stadia service will be retiring on January 18, 2023. Due to this retirement, you will be refunded for Stadia hardware purchases made on the Google Store. The refund will be issued within 2 weeks. Once issued , you will receive a confirmation email. There may be a problem processing your refund due to the time that has passed since the order was placed. In this case, you will receive an email with instructions on the next steps.”
If you are therefore waiting for the refund, we suggest that you check your emails constantly in the next two weeks. In case there should be problems with the procedure, perhaps since the payment method used is no longer validyou will have to follow some steps that Google has not yet talked about in detail and that we will only be able to discover in the near future.
