With “Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name” a spin-off will be released in 2023, in which the story of the well-known “Yakuza” protagonist Kazuma Kiryu comes into focus. As announced, fans of the series can look forward to the return of a popular feature in the spin-off.
A few weeks ago, Sega and the developers at Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios announced three new offshoots of the “Yakuza” series, which will also be released in the west under the name “Like a Dragon”.
Among the new announcements was a project with the unwieldy name Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, which will be released later this year. Like a Dragon Gaiden is a spin-off based on the story of longtime Yakuza protagonist Kazuma Kiryu.
As Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios announced, we can not only look forward to interesting insights into the fate of Kiryu. In addition, a popular feature will make a comeback in the spin-off.
Manage your own hostess club
We’re talking about the hostess mini-game known, for example, from “Yakuza Zero”, which allows you to manage your own hostess club, hire appropriate staff and expand your club’s influence. It has not yet been confirmed whether the whole thing is connected to an optional storyline, as in “Yakuza Zero”, but it is considered likely.
In general, Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios have so far been reluctant to provide concrete details about “Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name”. So all we know is that the spin-off’s storyline will bridge the events of “Yakuza: Like a Dragon” (2020) and “Yakuza 8” (2024). In addition, the new adventure of Kiryu will be based more on the older “Yakuza” adventures in terms of gameplay.
