After the GOTY at GoW Ragnarok with the fourth place of Elden Ring for TIME, the journalists of Paste Magazine have also decided to draw up the ranking of the most beautiful video games of the last year. The editors of the well-known magazine have decided to award the coveted Game of the Year award to the sci-fi adventure NORCO.
Norco, we recall, is a graphic adventure set in a dystopian sci-fi dimension: inspired by the cyberpunk science fiction works and the point and click experiences that wrote the history of the genre in the 90s, the work of Geography of Robots immerses users in a story with pulp implications, in the frame of a post-apocalyptic future that sees the USA heavily affected by consequences of man-made climate change.
The graphic adventure published by Raw Fury with crazed cyborgs and criminals of all sortstherefore, conquers the GOTY statuette of Paste Magazine: the journalists of the US magazine specialized in insights on music, cinema and television thus choose to reward the talent of the Geography of Robots team and of many other independent developers who, in 2022, have contributed to making the numerous postponements to 2023 of the triple A blockbusters most eagerly awaited by the public less bitter.
It is no coincidence, in fact, that in the first four positions of the ranking compiled by Paste Magazine we find only and exclusively ‘indie-oriented’ video games such as the aforementioned Norco, Citizen Sleeper, Immortality and Pentiment. The only high-budget title in the Top10 drawn up by the journalists of the American magazine is the soulslike open world Elden Ring. Net of the purposes of this ‘indie-driven’ ranking, it is however surprising to discover that God of War Ragnarok, for Paste Magazine, does not ‘deserve’ to be mentioned not even in the top thirty most important video games of the year!
