November 30th, 2022 at 2:41 p.m. by Julius Kahl – In the race for the strongest high-end graphics cards, the following candidates in particular will probably be the focus of potential buyers: the Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti or the successor RTX 4080 and the AMD RX 7900 XTX. Therefore, even before the publication of extensive tests, many people ask themselves which graphics card will have the edge in terms of performance. We can give you the first indications of this in advance.
With the release of new graphics card generations, the gaming community is driven by one question in particular: Which of the two major GPU manufacturers will be ahead in the absolute high-end segment? Hardware manufacturer AMD recently presented the new flagships based on the RDNA3 GPUs, which should scare the competition in the form of Nvidia. So if you want to buy a new graphics card in the near future, you have to ask yourself: Where can I get more performance?
Nvidia vs. AMD: Where is the RX 7900 XTX?
In the direct comparison between the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti and the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX, which will receive a detailed test report from us in a few days, the answer is already clear. AMD will be clearly ahead in this direct duel. This applies at least to classic rasterization applications, i.e. if you exclude ray tracing effects. If it’s ray tracing applications, the race could be a little tighter.

Whether it will also be enough against an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080, AMD’s declared opponent, remains open at the moment. AMD can score with RDNA3 with ample caches and a high video memory configuration, but this question can only be answered once the graphics card has been extensively tested by us. But it is already clear that you will not go wrong with either graphics card in terms of future viability. When the test is ready, we will keep you informed about all further developments.
