Just in time for the new snow season, an Austrian manufacturer is promptly at the start of the World Cup: Jowood splashed out and signed Hermann Maier, probably the biggest sports star of our southern neighbors, as a draft horse. All World Cup venues such as Kitzbühel, Wengen & Co. were mapped as realistically as possible using satellite data. In around 30 races you will compete in four disciplines: Downhill and Super-G rely on speed, in giant slalom and slalom good technique is the key. The controls are easy, in addition to swings with the stick, you use the edges for tight curves at the push of a button or duck.
Visually, the speed makes a chic impression and conveys the pace well, only on the PS2 does flicker cause occasional orientation problems. Unfortunately, the off-piste presentation was sparse: not even training is included, at least there is a course editor. It remains an entertaining winter sports game that makes little use of its potential.
Fast-paced ski race with good winter visuals and simple controls, but spartan trappings.
