On November 29, Nintendo and animation studio Illumination unveiled the second trailer for Super Mario Bros. The Movie. A trailer that was extremely well received, which raises the hyper as rarely a video game adaptation had been able to do.
A brand new trailer that still raises the hype!
It must be said that Nintendo and Illumination have been working hand in hand for many years to create this feature film, which will be available exclusively in theaters March 29, 2023. Known for Minions, Despicable Me and All On Stage and Like Beasts, Illumination has earned a solid reputation in the world of animation. It is therefore towards this studio that Nintendo, which is beginning to develop its worlds through cinema and theme parksturned.
After the broadcast of a first trailer in October, Nintendo and Illumination gave the cover yesterday, by broadcasting a new video, in VO then in VFduring a special Nintendo Direct. Loaded with references to the various characters of the Mario universe and to the games from the Mario Kart, Super Mario, Donkey Kong or even Yoshi and Luigi licenses, this trailer tells us that we will relive the discovery of the Mushroom Kingdom by the two brothers plumbers.
As usual, the latter is threatened by the infamous Bowser, and the heroes will have to give everything to stop the king of the Koopas. Between a Peach ready to fightthe presence of many characters, a reference to the mythical Rainbow Road or even a mention to “many galaxies”, the trailer does everything so that the public understands that this adaptation is taken very seriously by Illumination, which obviously compromises with Nintendo’s requirements.
Sublime posters to wait
After the release of the trailer, which generated little criticism except that it perhaps reveals a little too much and that Chris Pratt is not at all unanimous, Nintendo and Illumination unveiled a whole series of posters which, too, had their effect. We find Donkey Kong, Bowser, Peach, Toad, Mario or Luigi, all accompanied by elements that characterize their worlds. No doubt that before the release, we will be entitled to other promotional images of Super Mario Bros. The film.
Anyway, all the lights are green for the moment about this adaptation. Some fans no longer hesitate to bet that Super Mario Bros. will be the best video game adaptation ever released, far ahead of Sonic or Detective Pikachu. However, we will have to wait for the film to be released to be sure, and keep in mind that thehe two Sonic films were a huge success!
