The sequel to Tom Cruise’s acclaimed Top Gun was a resounding success in the summer after its release on Memorial Day and became Paramount’s highest-grossing film of all time. To celebrate taking in $716 million at the box office, Top Gun 2: Maverick returns to theaters from December 2, 2022 to December 15, 2022.
According to Chris Aronson, president of domestic distribution, “this is the perfect time to bring Top Gun 2: Maverick back to theaters so audiences around the world can see once again how special this movie is.”
Director Joseph Kosinski has managed to capture the magic of the original Top Gun without relying solely on nostalgia to keep audiences hooked. Tom Cruise, of course, reprises his role as Pete Mitchell, but with a new team and an exciting adventure.
