Nvidia had certainly imagined the start of the new generation of graphics cards differently. The Geforce RTX 4090 has problems with availability and the RTX 4080 is almost like lead on the retailer shelves, apparently because of the high price. If you want to buy a graphics card and don’t want to spend at least 1,449 euros on a next-gen graphics card, you can look forward to steadily falling prices for graphics cards from the old GPU generation. This time there are only slight price reductions, as our Geforce market overview of the cheapest offers from RTX 3050 to RTX 4090 makes clear.
How have Geforce prices developed in a weekly comparison?
Buyers of a Geforce RTX 3080 Ti benefit most from a price drop. Here the price went down by around 50 euros compared to our last Geforce market overview. Otherwise, there are only slight deductions for graphics cards such as the RTX 3060.

Geforce RTX 4070 Ti: GPU photographed, probably half the size of the AD102 of the RTX 4090
Twitter user “MEGAsizeGPU” posted an image of the AD104-400 chip that will power the Geforce RTX 4070 Ti. The chip is estimated to be 295mm² in size, which is roughly half the RTX 4090’s AD102-300. The Geforce RTX 4070 Ti is scheduled to hit the market on January 5th. When Nvidia introduced the first three new graphics cards based on the Ada Lovelace architecture in September, the company made a faux pas. At that time, CEO Jensen Huang presented two versions of the Geforce RTX 4080, one with 16 and one with 12 GiB memory. Due to the high performance discrepancy, many agreed that the Geforce RTX 4080 designation is not appropriate for the 12 GiB model. Nvidia probably took note of this and therefore withdrew the launch of the model in order, according to its own statements, to avoid confusion about the similarity in name. The chip built into the graphics card in the form of the AD104-400 will by no means be discarded, but will probably be recycled in a Geforce RTX 4070 Ti. The user “MEGAsizeGPU” has now published a photo of the small chip on Twitter. This should be equipped with 60 shader multiprocessors, which results in 7,680 FP32 ALUs, 128 tensor cores and 60 ray tracing units. Like the other RTX 40-series GPUs released to date, the AD104-400 is manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process and outnumbers the GA104-400 of the Geforce RTX 3070 Ti in terms of cores. The Ada Lovelace GPU is estimated to be 295mm². That’s roughly half the size of the AD102-300 flagship, which is 608mm². Additionally, the AD104-400 is approximately 100mm² smaller than the GA104-400.
