After sharing nearly 15 minutes of gameplay, this time SEGA offers us a focus on the fights of Like a Dragon: Ishin, the new spin-off from us of the Yakuza saga. Action, weapons galore, but above all a lot of blood are to be expected during the clashes.
Once upon a time in Japan
Yakuza has become, over the years and opuses, an essential license in the video game landscape. After seven opuses all more brilliant than each other, the license, which we should no longer call Yakuza, is about to return with a bang to us with three new opuses. First, there’s Like a Dragon 8, a new canon opus which should take up the formula introduced during the previous title, Yakuza : Like a Dragon. There is also Like A Dragon : Gaiden a game that should make the link between opus 7 and 8. But the one that interests us today is the famous Like a Dragon: They were!a spin-off still reserved for the Japanese today and which will soon reach Western fans.
If the main license is set in our time, the very nice bias of Like a Dragon Ishin is to take us on a journey to the heart of feudal Japan, in 1868 to be exact, at the beginning of the Meiji era. Heavy in meaning, this era represents the end of the golden age of the samurai and the loss of power of the Shinsengumi, the shogunate’s militia. A choice far from trivial therefore, especially when the title offers us to embody a master of the katana.
Ishin The Killer
Slowly, but surely, the release date for this updated version of Like a Dragon Ishin is fast approaching. In fact, SEGA is discreetly continuing its promotional campaign in order to offer a preview of its software to the most impatient fans. After revealing nearly fifteen minutes of gameplay, this time the publisher puts the emphasis on the action with a trailer dedicated to the fights. Suffice to say right away, the software should offer fights without downtime where blood flows freely.
Rather skilled with his ten fingers, our hero Sakamoto Ryoma is ready to draw blood per hectolitre with a whole arsenal at his disposal. In the video, we can see him at work with a katana, but also firearms such as revolvers or…portable cannons. With its staging as excessive as it is enjoyable, Like a Dragon Ishin should do honor to the Yakuza saga by offering us ever more improbable finish moves and breathtaking slow motions.
Like a Dragon: Ishin! is expected for February 21, on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series and Xbox One.
