It’s time for the last news selection of 2022. As the end of the year approaches, few releases are planned (especially on the new side) and we have focused this list in order to dream of summer while choosing manga whose hype is present.

Blue Lock: The World Cup manga
We’ve told you about it several times in recent months: Blue Lock is one of the most popular manga in the world in recent times, as evidenced by its arrival in the top 10 bestselling manga in japan in 2022. A work that has recently come back into the spotlight since the news of the Football World Cup, currently in progress, echoes it terribly. It started with the first victory of the Japanese selection in the competition: they won 2-1 against Germany, yet on paper much weaker than their opponent. Therefore, many comments mention the #BlueLock project, obviously from the manga. The latter was created by the Japanese Football Union, which decided to recruit the best hopeful striker of its country after the country’s defeat in the round of 16. One Piece: the volume to bring back those who are tired
After 102 volumes published since 1999, we are entitled to understand how One Piece could have tired some fans of the saga: lack of time or money to invest in it, more hollow and less exciting narrative arcs than others. But if there is a volume that could bring back those who have let go, it is the 103rd which is expected in December. A volume that should bring together chapters 1036 to 1046, the first written and drawn by Eiichiro Oda after its final saga announcement : among these ten chapters, some contain exceptional revolutions around the story begun in 1997 by the mangaka. And no One Piece fan would want to miss them.

Dumbbell: How much can you lift? : to be done by summer!
A Summer Body (or summer body) is prepared in winter. The end-of-year celebrations are therefore an excellent excuse to start reading Dumbbell: How much can you lift?. A manga that follows the first adventures of high school student Hibiki Sakura in a gym. She decides to start bodybuilding after a classmate remarked to her that she had gained weight: it must be said that Hibiki consumes between six and seven meals a day. She doesn’t know much about fitness and after a few solo tries at home decides to go through the door of the Silverman Gym. Far from a relaxed sport practice, this gym is home to bodybuilding geeks and in particular Akemi Sōryūin, a classmate from her high school. A comic manga that takes the time to explain the exercises and everything there is to know about bodybuilding!

Grand Blue: comedy, romance and humor in a style close to the Attack on Titans
To also forget the coming winter and focus on summer, the Grand Blue manga is perfect. With 19 volumes published in Japan, it is the eleventh volume which will be published in December. We follow the new adventures of Iori Kitahara, who moves to the coastal city of Izu (100 kilometers south of Japan) to continue his studies. He joins (or is forced to join, it all depends on the point of view) a diving club bringing together atypical personalities. Chisa, one of Iori’s cousins, is the most “normal” of the group and focusing on diving and her studies. Nanaka also seems to be of this ilk as a diving instructor but is in love with Chisa, her sister, and is ready to take up arms against anyone who gets too close to her. There are also Shinji and Ryujiro, Iori’s elders who drag him into many ambush parties drinking alcohol more than necessary. Despite a style evoking that of the Attack on Titans (especially for the faces), Grand Blue depicts the university daily life of a young graduate with brilliance and humor.

Madoka Magica: the hailed anime sees its reissued manga adaptation!
Offbeat title
Originally scheduled for November, the manga reissue of Madoka Magica has been pushed back to December. As we think it is really a shame to miss the work, we have decided to re-glue the written text for the selection made for the month of November.
Usually, popular anime become popular thanks to the already successful success of the source material. Recently, there are many examples with Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer or even Chainsaw Man. Conversely, rare are the original animes that manage to break through even if there are some. One of the best known of them is probably Shinichiro Watanabe’s Cowboy Bebop, but this is also an observation that we observe for Madoka Magica: released in 2011, this animated series has given rise to several manga adaptations . It is a reissue of the saga which is expected in France for the month of November: the opportunity to (re) discover a series with a childish appearance which tells the banal life of the schoolgirl until the day when she becomes a magical girl. Madoka Magica has been praised many times for the psychological character and the deep themes it addresses.
