When there’s more, there’s more ! Splatoon 3 returns for the holidays with a colossal update, something to thrill family and friends for the end of the year. Starting today, the Switch exclusive welcomes its 2.0 update and kicks off the festivities with its frost season.
Not stingy with content, this update will bring big news to Nintendo’s software, which is given a real makeover. New game modes, new weapons and equipment… we briefly come back to the most important points to remember about this new season.

What about novelties?
We had already mentioned some of the new features expected a fortnight ago, this time Nintendo shared with us in detail all the content available today. The first big new feature is the Big Run event mode. In the idea, we are dealing with a bigger and more ambitious Salmon Run mode which will take place in the Carapinches Park. See you on December 10 to participate in the first Big Run. As a result, several decorations can be obtained by the players depending on the number of golden eggs collected.
The other major mode that makes its arrival is on the side of online clashes. For those who have already reached S+ in Anarchy Matches, Nintendo is launching Match X today. Depending on the combat mode chosen, players gain X power which determines their rank. The X power increases or decreases according to the results obtained after a series of three matches.
But more than new game modes, Splatoon 3 also welcomes big changes in weapons and maps. Two new arenas are already available: Brinewater Springs et Flounder Heights. If the first map is completely new, Flounder Heights should however bring back happy memories to the oldest players, since it was already present in the first opus. The Salmon Run mode is also completed with the Marooner’s Bay stage.
On the weapons side, there are also big additions. In total, there are 13 new tools (three new, and ten others from previous games) ready to paint every corner of Cité-Clabousse. We find the Spatial Launcher, the Large Roll, the X – 5H Pencil, the Aérogun Premium, the chic Seauceur, the nuanced Épinceau, the nuanced Double Moucheteur, the pro-branded Liquidator, the Proxiblaster Neo, the XS-branded Brusher, the Liquidateur Sr., the chic Carbon Roller and finally, the designer Liquidateur. Beautiful content in perspective therefore, as long as you understand something about it.
New weapons will be available for the frost season starting this Thursday, December 1.

To all this are added new Tableturf maps, around fifty new items in the shops, a new catalog containing emotes, titles and stickers, as well as several features, changes and adjustments. The Season of Frost Winter Update is available today for all Splatoon 3 players.
