Game news Star Wars Eclipse: unheard of for Quantic Dream (Detroit: Become Human)? An ultra-ambitious video game

We still know little about Star Wars Eclipse, the new project from the French studio Quantic Dream. The studio, mainly known for its narrative games, could well review its formula for this title and offer us a very different experience from what the developers have accustomed us to so far.
Ready to eclipse the competition
If we know that the project exists, nothing, or almost nothing has yet been revealed about Star Wars Eclipse. First, you have to understand that the title is still in its infancy and should see the light of day in a few years, at best. Nevertheless, we already know some details about it, such as the frame of his plot and the proposed experience, which should be similar to action-adventure with a multiple-choice scenario.
Headed by Quantic DreamStar Wars Eclipse is one of the most ambitious future Star Wars video game projects, whether for Disney, but also and above all for the French studio. A potential giant status of which David Cage, founder of the studio, is well aware. Thus, during an interview granted to IGNthe director once again confirmed it: Star Wars Eclipse is Quantic Dream’s biggest project to date. Without revealing too many details, David Cage also explained the relationship between this software and the studio’s previous titles, saying that the proposal will be “very different” from what we have seen so far.
A new project for Quantic Dream
If David Cage ignored the secrets of his new software, the director still hinted that Star Wars Eclipse would not necessarily look like its predecessors. He notably compared Star Wars Eclipse to Detroit: Become Human, the “most successful game” of the studio according to him. First there is the question of the universe.
We spent a lot of time imagining our world in 10,15,20 years – How would technologies evolve? Do we think androids will be part of our society? (…) I think Star Wars has a very different setting (…)
For David Cage, the universe of Detroit: Become Human corresponds more to anticipation than pure sci-fi, unlike Star Wars. A significant difference, which therefore requires dealing with new elements for the studio. But that’s not the only point where the two games differ. For David Cage, the objective is not to make a title similar to Detroit: Become Human transposed into the Star Wars universe, far from it.
Star Wars will not be Detroit in disguise. The two games will be very, very different, although obviously we’ll use what we’ve learned. But it will in no way be an imitation. It will be a very different experience.
A universe far from what Quantic Dream has already exploited, a game experience still unprecedented for the studio… there is no doubt that Star Wars Eclipse is a major challenge for David Cage and his teams. For now, it’s hard to know exactly what to expect. As said before, the app is scheduled for a release date far, far away. But it is certain that until then, the project will be followed closely.
