Apparently, it is not only within the fan community that we have noticed very divergent opinions concerning the new series The Rings of Power, available on Amazon Prime Video. Obviously, it is difficult to pass after the exceptional work of Peter Jackson on the two trilogies but this new format was able to count on the messages of support from iconic actors, like Elijah Wood who lends his features to Frodo. Except that not everyone shares the latter’s enthusiasm!
The Rings of Power series even divides the acting community! According to this actor, the Hobbit trilogy could even have been too much!
The Rings of Power series even divides the acting community!
It has already been a month and a half since the first season of the series The Rings of Power bowed out on Netflix’s competing platform, namely Amazon Prime Video. However, for those who do not want to close this chapter before the launch of season 2 – you will have to be very patient for this -, there is precisely a nice surprise, to consume without moderation, on the Amazon platform. Now that all subscribers have been able to enjoy the show, it’s easier for fans to give their opinion. This observation also applies to the actors who appear there and who can now express themselves without being afraid of releasing a nasty spoiler, as well as to the actors very close to the universe of JRR Tolkien.
Lately, to the kind words spoken by actor Elijah Wood on the Rings of Power series — a show that “isn’t really Lord of the Rings”, according to him — were added the declarations of other actors of the trilogy. Andy Serkis, the iconic interpreter of Gollum, went there with his compliment, just like another sidekick of Frodonamely Pippin to whom actor Billy Boyd lends his features in the first three films of Peter Jackson. Unfortunately, the Fellowship of the Ring seems somewhat fragile in places, and this actor in the films doesn’t necessarily have the Amazon series warm in his heart.
According to this actor, the Hobbit trilogy could even have been too much!
This is an interview that could displease the showrunners of the Amazon series! Recently, the actor Bernard Hill, who we could meet in the skin of King Théoden, in the films The Two Towers and The Return of the King, did not go out of his way to express his feelings about this news. series in the universe of JRR Tolkien. Already, when the second trilogy The Hobbit was released, the actor already had the impression that we were pulling on the rope and that we were almost reaching the breaking point, even if there was, according to him , good things in these three films. For The Rings of Power, it’s really not the same story and we’re more on a criticism stingy with compliments.
No I am not interested. It’s a sucker, and I’m not interested in watching the show or appearing on it. Good luck to them and all that, but it’s not like the real story (…) Yes. I think they pulled the strings when they made The Hobbit. It’s a very small book, and they did a good job, a great job. They stretched the story to the max, but I think there’s a limit to everything. I think they achieved that in The Hobbit because there are some very good things in that trilogy, without a shadow of a doubt.
For Bernard Hill therefore, the saga of the Lord of the Rings should have ended with The Return of the King. He is also categorical on this, and does not seem to be a fan of the expansion of the universe initiated by Amazon at all. since it is above all, in his eyes, a project much more motivated by money than by the desire to explore the lore of JRR Tolkien’s work. The actor even uses strong words using the expression “money pump” : nevertheless, if he was vehement on this project, he remains no less cordial in wishing him a good continuation, in particular for the season 2 already extremely awaited.
