Cyberpunk Edgerunners has proved to be a huge success and the animated series has even managed to relaunch the CD Projekt franchise on the videogame front, after several months of difficulties due to the disastrous launch and difficult attempts to resume the Sci-Fi open world.
Con Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Studio Trigger he has shown all his talent and there are not a few fans who are hoping for one new collaboration between CD Projekt RED and the Japanese animation studio. The dream of the fans may not remain so for very long, according to the latest statements by Saya Elder and Imaishi Hiroyuki, respectively producer and director of the Netflix series.
During an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session held on reddit, the two representatives of Studio Trigger confirmed that the company already known for productions such as Kill la Kill and Little Witch Academia is interested in working again alongside the Polish software house. At the moment the two have not wanted to unbutton that much, and it is not clear whether we are referring to a possible sequel to Edgerunners or if to separate products. What we do know is that CD Projekt said it was eager to explore cinema and TV series more deeply.
Elder and Hiroyuki also said they took a lot of inspiration from other cyberpunk products when making Edgerunners, first of all Neon Genesis Evangelion. It was also specified that there is no alternate ending for the animated series.
