Kanye West has once again disappeared from Twitter after breaking Twitter rules. Ye’s lifetime ban was overturned shortly after Twitter’s takeover.
After briefly being active again on Twitter, Kanye West has to leave the field again. Elon Musk announced the departure of Ye, as Kanye West is known today, on Thursday evening. Musk writes in a tweet that he has done “his best” to temper Ye’s behavior, but that “he has once again broken Twitter’s rules about inciting violence.” This causes the rapper’s account to be suspended again.
The Twitter owner has not made any statements about the duration of the suspension. Before Musk took over the social medium for $ 44 billion, Kanye West was suspended from Twitter for life. That decision followed repeated anti-Semitic statements from Ye’s side. Musk’s decision to suspend him again follows, among other things, posting a picture of a swastika and glorifying Nazism.
Love of anti-Semitism
What may have weighed in that decision are statements made by West at the far-right platform Infowars. He expressed his admiration for Adolf Hitler and the Nazis during the broadcast. Although Musk portrays himself as a champion of free speech, Ye’s statements went too far. It stated that it was fine if the rapper posted nude photos of the top man, but “that placing the swastika goes too far.”
It was striking that Ye and Musk ended up in a discussion shortly before the suspension. “Sorry but you went too far. This is not love,” Musk wrote in response to a tweet from West. The rapper was clearly not pleased with that reaction and subsequently wrote “who made you a judge”, referring to the conviction of Ye’s tweet.
Stripe through Parler takeover
Kanye West left Twitter for a while before the takeover and focused on a takeover of Parler. The social medium, which sees censorship as society’s greatest enemy, announced in October that it was sitting at the negotiating table with Ye. That takeover is now over. It was not disclosed why the negotiations were halted. The platform does say that it “continues to look for growth opportunities and wants to continue to develop for our vibrant community”.
