After learning that Bethesda’s Indiana Jones will be a game with unique characteristics, we learn more about the project currently under development at Machine Games studios, the authors of the Wolfenstein series.
As reported by Video Games Chronicles, to lend a hand to the team in charge of creating the new videogame transposition of the archaeologist created by George Lucas there will be Jens Andersonformerly director of games such as The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay e The Darkness.
Andersson will act as design director and will work alongside creative director Axel Torvenius, former author of the Wolfenstein series, and with executive producer Jerk Gustafsson at the helm of the project. Andersson will be meeting old acquaintances he previously worked with at Starbreeze Studios.
Andersson has also contributed to many of MachineGames’ previous titles as a freelance designer. In total, more than 20 developers who worked on 2007’s The Darkness are part of the Indiana Jones team. Additionally, Andersson has previously spent several years in LucasArtswhere he was originally hired to work on another canceled Indiana Jones game.
“I have taken the next big step, which is joining MachineGames as Design Director of Indiana Jones,” Andersson said in a statement. “This is also redemption for me. When I accepted the offer to go to San Francisco in 2009, it was to lead the making of an Indiana Jones game, but that project was cancelled before I even arrived. Now I have a chance to do what I originally hoped to do, but this time I can with some of my oldest and best friends. Joining Machine Games is like coming home. I’m so excited about what we’re building and how we’re doing it – with one of the most iconic characters ever, in collaboration with my friends at Lucasfilm. It will be something very special“.
Bethesda said they love Indiana Jones and that the first concept of the game dates back to 2009.
