Up to now, Konami’s noble kickers have referred the competitors from EA to the PS2 seats in terms of gaming fun. On the Xbox, on the other hand, there was no serious competition for them FIFA-Series. But that has now come to an end: Pro Evolution Soccer 4 sets the tone for Microsoft gamers from now on.
In terms of content, the Xbox version is almost identical to the original: it contains the licenses for the Spanish, Italian and Dutch leagues. German kickers are similar in name and appearance to their real role models. In champion league mode you tinker with your career – in training mode you hone your technique: from football basics to free kick training to advanced dribbling skills, you train yourself in numerous disciplines. The controls have been ported with minor drawbacks: Compared to the PS2, where strategies can be activated with the L2 button without any problems, you have to twist your fingers discreetly on the Xbox (white button plus action button).
The only significant innovation is the support of Xbox Live: Up to now you could only use four-player mode to present yourself as a football god among friends, but now the whole (online) world is open to you.
