Between the new Witcher saga, the remake of the first The Witcher, spin-offs, Cyberpunk Orion and new IPs, it certainly cannot be said that CD Projekt RED does not have big plans for the future. At the moment, however, the majority of the team’s workforce is engaged in Phantom Liberty, first and only expansion for Cyberpunk 2077.
The contents of the expansion of the open world sci-fi RPG are still largely a mystery, which is also understandable given that the release is set for 2023, however the studio is constantly updating us on the progress of the development of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. A few days ago confirmed that there are well 350 people committed to expansionwhich has also just entered in the final stage of processing.
A new update has just been provided by the CEO Adam Kicinski in person, who during a meeting with the shareholders – the details of which were disclosed by Insider Gaming – confirmed the arrival of una Game of the Year Edition per Cyberpunk 2077 in a period following the launch of Phantom Liberty. “It’s the natural order of things – it already happened with The Witcher, which received a Game of the Year Edition after the launch of both expansions, an edition that has been on the market ever since. You can expect the same also in this case”.
It was certainly predictable, but Kiciński’s confirmation doesn’t hurt at all. The Game of the Year Edition of The Witcher 3, we remember, was released in August 2016, three months after the launch of the second and last expansion Blood & Wine. We’re expecting a similar move for Cyberpunk 2077 as well, although the Phantom Liberty’s launch date remains to be discovered.
For Cyberpunk Orion, the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, we advise you instead to make yourself very comfortable: pre-production will only begin after the launch of Phantom Liberty in the new Boston branch, therefore the market debut still appears quite far away.
