12/03/2022 at 2:45 p.m. by Maximilian Hohm – With the EK Loop fans FTP 120 and 140, EK Waterblocks has introduced new fans with high static pressure especially for water cooling radiators. They have useful features such as a daisy chain system, a flush finish with the radiators and adjustable RGB lighting. Therefore, read more about EK’s successor models for the Vardar series below.

Regardless of whether it is an entry-level or an absolute high-end PC, all computers need to be cooled. For this purpose, air and water cooling are used in the desktop area. Almost all cooling solutions have in common that the heat has to be dissipated by case fans. Depending on the application, these can have different strengths, some models are illuminated, others are particularly quiet or offer high static pressure to increase the air flow through a radiator. Of course there are also fans that want to combine all these points or at least represent a compromise to be a good choice for enthusiasts.

[PLUS] 17 thermal conduction materials tested: paste, pad and liquid metals

The water cooling specialists from EK Waterblocks want to have presented such a product with the new EK-Loop FPT in 120 and 140 millimeters. FTP stands for Full Pressure Technology Fan Frame, a special fan frame that can be flush with the radiator so that the entire airflow is pushed through it instead of being able to escape to the side. But that’s not the only interesting feature of the Vardar successors.

Like Lian Li’s Uni fans, they offer their own system with Omni Link, in which the fan connections and RGB connectors can be combined so that they can be operated on one connection. This should take a lot of cable clutter and complexity out of the water cooling system. It uses a proprietary 8-pin Micro-Fit system, but terminates on a regular motherboard PWM header and 3-pin 5-volt D-RGB header, eliminating the need for dedicated controllers. With the fans, EK speaks of optimized performance and volume over a wide range selectable by the user.

There will be three versions each of the 120 and 140 mm models. A black and a white with RGB lighting and a black with any lighting. All fans are equipped with anti-vibration pads on the corners and the cables can also be routed to other sides of the fan housing. The liquid-bearing fans have seven fan blades and are already listed in the PCGH price comparison, but are not yet available. EK estimates an RRP of EUR 21.90 for the illuminated 120 mm versions, and EUR 24.90 for the 140 mm versions. The non-illuminated derivatives each cost five euros less.
