Rare has shown – in their funniest video yet – how the brand new PvP system works in Sea of Thieves Hourglass of Fate.
“Do you want PvP?” shouts John McMurtry, head of video production at Sea of Thieves. “Want? Are you ready for the thrill of battle?” There is a pause for a knuckle kiss.
“Ugh, skeletons, I don’t want them, I want real players,” adds McMurtry. “I want to fight people!”
“This thing is rated -” – pauses to lick his finger – “amazing! It’s your portal to on-demand pirate battles. All you have to do is spin it! And then press that button. want a fight!
“If you don’t want to wait for the enemies to dance a bloody ballet, then turn the combat map, set a course and dive.”
The video adds that with the help of “special technology” the crew can set you up with pirates “with the opposite world view”.
“So with so many new things coming to Sea of Thieves Season 8, that’s why we have to ask -” and the video ends here.
“This is my favorite thing you’ve ever made,” one commenter said, while another added, “Forget Season 8, this is the best thing Rare has ever made.”
Season 8 of Sea of Thieves promises to be a real boon for battle-hardened pirates: Not only with a new comprehensive PvP on demand, but also with two new alignment categories for captains with corresponding cosmetic rewards. But perhaps the most interesting are the bonuses that players receive upon reaching a certain threshold in their chosen faction.
