According to a new report from Deadline, new production company Story Kitchen and development studio Soclap are teaming up to bring to the big screen a live-action film by Sifuan action and fighting game launched to critical acclaim and gamers earlier this year on PS4, PlayStation 5 and PC.
Sifu’s film script writing was entrusted to Derek KostalAmerican author formerly responsible for the scripts of John Wick, John Wick Chapter 2 and John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum, and the characters of John Wick 4. Kostald is also one of the founders of Story Kitchen, a production company that saw the light in October of this year also thanks to Sonic The Hedgehog and Tomb Raider producer Dmitri M. Johnson and former APA member Mike Goldberg. Story Kitchen will therefore be producing Sifu’s filmwhich has managed to grab the honor and the burden of adaptation by overcoming several competitors equally interested in intellectual property.
Sifu, for the uninitiated, is a third-person action game with intense hand-to-hand combat in which you take on the role of a young Kung Fu student in search of those responsible for the murder of his family. What is staged is a veritable vengeful Odyssey paved with toil and pain, which has left its mark on the hearts of all gamers who have experienced it, not without difficulty. Sifu has made a name for himself also thanks to his level of challenge, certainly well balanced but calibrated towards the top, and for the roguelike mechanics, which see the protagonist getting a little old whenever he is defeated in combat. Find more information about the game in our review of Sifu, regarding the film we will update you as soon as we know more.
