Sometimes we want to take a photograph where the basic idea is to show movement and the passage of time in a still image. This is achieved by slowing down the shutter speed. To achieve this we have to make some adjustments. That said, we are going to explain how to adjust the shutter speed of your Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
Samsung Galaxy: How to Adjust Shutter Speed
Shutter speed is what determines the amount of light that can reach the camera’s sensor. The longer the shutter is open, the more light can enter. A classic example of long exposure photography is cars driving at night. Best of all, due to the evolution of smartphones, we no longer need a camera to capture them. In fact, we did wonders with the Samsung Galaxy.
So, to take long exposure photos with our Samsung Galaxy smartphone, we have to adjust the shutter speed. Something to keep the phone steady, like a tripod, also comes in handy. That’s just why I said it needed some knack. Long exposure captures movement, so if the smartphone is moving, the image won’t look as good.
First, open the camera app on your Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Then click More on the toolbar.
However, there are different camera modes that we can use. Choose Pro Mode.
As soon as we do, a new bar appears at the bottom. What we have to pay attention to is the Speed option.
Shutter speed is indicated as a fraction – like 1/30 – or an exact number. The numbers indicate how long the shutter is open. 1/30 is 1/30 of a second, 5 is simply five seconds.
To adjust the shutter speed, tap “Speed” and use your finger to slide the dial. What speed should you use? It’s best to experiment to find the best option for the type of photo you want to take.
Tap the shutter button when you’re ready to take the photo. You will see a progress circle indicating how long the shutter has been open.
And that’s all there is to it. The photo will be saved as usual. Note that taking long exposure photographs is not an exact science. But once we get it right the first time, it starts to be a lot easier and more impressive.
