The start of the TV series “The Last of Us” can only wait until January. A trailer released over the weekend shows what viewers can expect. Spoilers are included.
As expected, HBO has released a trailer for the live-action adaptation of PlayStation blockbuster The Last of Us. The series, which stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, will begin airing on January 15, 2023. In this country could Secure the rights to Sky.
Written and produced by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and Naughty Dog vice president Neil Druckmann, the adaptation picks up on the events of the first game and could also make a jump into the sequel. “Left Behind,” the story DLC that reveals more about Ellie’s past, also appears to feature in the show.
Ashley Johnson is there
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey have been cast as the main characters of the series, starring as Joel and Ellie. Nico Parker, daughter of actress Thandie Newton, plays Joel’s daughter Sarah, while Gabriel Luna takes on the role of Joel’s brother Tommy.
Ashley Johnson also makes an appearance in the trailer, which isn’t too much of a surprise based on previous rumors and hints. After slipping into the role of Ellie in “Left Behind”, she takes over her mother Anna in the TV series. The trailer shows a scene where Anna appears to be holding Ellie as an infant, so the production also addresses this period in the young heroine’s life.
Similar to the video game, in the film adaptation, Joel is tasked with transporting Ellie across the country. While initially little more than cargo of some sort, she turns out to be immune to the Cordyceps virus, which was responsible for a global meltdown years before the storyline. Over time, Joel and Ellie’s bond grows as the duo struggle to survive.
The end of the trailer shows what the characters have to fight against, among other things, when a bloater appears. Even in the game, these beasts were extremely dangerous.
