A Apple is just one of a myriad of companies whose production is made in China🇧🇷 It’s no secret that your Apple iPhone are made in Chinain one of its various factories and production lines, under the tutelage of partners such as Foxconn, among others.
Faced with the social instability that is experienced in the giant Asian nation, the production of Apple’s top-of-the-range models, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max havem been seriously hampered by problems in the factories.
The result? THE shortage of the product in the marketespecially during the Christmas season.
Tension in China leads Apple to look for new solutions for iPhone production
However, it is also public knowledge, the wave of protests and civil unrest that has raged in China in the face of new waves of forced isolation and other tight policies under the pretext of controlling COVID-19.
These are protests that have not been seen for more than three decades, with riots plaguing the country since the middle of last month. In fact, as we made known, making it impossible to ignore the scale, violence and popular support for the revolt actions.
Marching against an “oppressor” dressed from head to toe in white, the Chinese population wants freedom of movement, going home, going to work, being able to walk without being confined.
Beijing has toughened repression and population control measures, with the fight against the pandemic being the ratio of action, but without its actions having silenced citizens so far.
The unrest, however, has already affected several factories dedicated to the production of the Apple iPhone, among other apple products.
Apple prepares production solution outside China
According to information provided by The Wall Street Journal, Apple is starting to prepare to move production out of China. The measure will aim reduce dependence on factories located in Chinese territoryoperated by Foxconn.
The strategy will be outlined so that Apple can move at least part of the production of equipment out of China. Currently the largest supplier and producer of technological equipment, China is Apple’s biggest partner.
It is certain, however, that China has seen its position as a center of production gradually weaken. At the same time, companies like Apple are beginning to seriously consider moving at least part of their production to other nations.
“iPhone City” once accounted for 85% of all Apple iPhones
However, episodes of social unrest such as those that shook the “City of the iPhone”, the industrial complex for the production of Apple iPhones led by the Foxconn Technology group, have alerted Cupertino technology.
We remember what happened in Zhengzhou, China, where approximately 300,000 workers operate in a factory managed by Foxconn to manufacture iPhones and other Apple products.
This same factory in Zhengzhou was the scene of violent protests like the ones we can see in Twitter posts. Once again, workers were protesting against the oppression imposed by the Chinese Communist Party under the Zero Covid policy.
Finally, as mentioned by Reuters, the situation in iPhone City will be under control until the beginning of January. The exact shape of this “reposition of order” is not fully known, but we hope that it does not mean more violence and repression.
