We still have to wait almost a month for the series adaptation of The Last of Us to start. We only got another foretaste of the implementation this week in the form of a new trailer. Of course, fans have already taken a close look at the material shown and made some exciting discoveries. For example, the two original voice actors of Joel and Ellie from the game template can be seen for the first time.
Is Ellie’s mother a part of the series?
The cast of Ashley Johnson, who we know as Ellie in the US original of Naughty Dog, is causing a lot of discussion. At minute 1:33 in the trailer, the actress appears for a very brief moment. In this scene we see her holding a newly born baby. Could this be Ellie? At least that’s the theory that many followers on the internet are hoping for. There could hardly be a more suitable cast for this role.

In the games of The Last of Us, Anna – the name of Ellie’s mother – is hardly mentioned. She died shortly after Ellie was born and asked her friend Marlene to take care of her daughter. The Last of Us: New trailer for the HBO series
Troy Baker will have a completely different role in the series. Joel’s voice actor belongs to David’s brutal group that players may remember from later in the story. He can also be seen in the trailer – together with David. Just stop the video at minute 1:53. Then you see the actor on the left with a hat. The first season of the HBO adaptation of The Last of Us can be seen on Sky Germany and WOW from January 15, 2023.
