The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 has dropped in Europe from €1949 to €1859, and the GeForce RTX 4080 is now available for €1399 (previously €1469). This is how the new prices of RTX 4000 video cards look at the official NVIDIA store in Europe.
The company was forced to cut prices due to the appreciation of the euro against the US dollar. This means that the price cut is most likely unrelated to the upcoming release of the Radeon RX 7900.
The new prices are already valid for Founders Edition cards supplied by the company’s official partners, as well as for some custom models. Custom cards cost €1,410 and €2,100 respectively for the RTX 4080 and 4090 models. The top graphics card is still much more popular than the lower model.
AMD is set to release the Radeon RX 7900 series next week, which aims to compete with the GeForce RTX 4080 at a lower price point. This means the cost of the RTX 4080 could drop even further.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 and 4080 video cards made a splash not only with their performance, but also with their price. Their cost, not without reason, is considered excessive for top-end video cards. The times of mining seem to have had an impact on the company’s pricing policy, and its CEO is forced to justify high prices with expensive production and the death of Moore’s Law.
AMD generally denies this approach, however, recognizing the increase in the cost of development and production of graphics processors. The Red Team uses the lower prices of its products as a competitive advantage and is not afraid to lower them further under market pressure.
NVIDIA gaming revenue halved in a year from $3.22 billion to $1.57 billion
