The Cyberpunk 2077 modder added a whole new romance by using a minor character from one of the base game’s gigs. Maud 8ug8ear Romance RMS allows you to hook up with a netrunner you meet earlier in the game, and even adds a new storyline related to this novel.
This is just the latest example of how Cyberpunk fans are endlessly expanding the world of Night City by sharing mods that make the world more alive, lived-in and interactive. From new professions, occupations, and now, of course, new romantic interests, fans are working hard to add more depth to V’s life, providing players with far more options than in the vanilla game.
8ug8ear is a netrunner that you will meet while playing Warm and Warmer. Here Wakako sends you to pick her up from the apartment as she is surrounded by Tiger Claws. In order for her to survive this mission, you must inject her with coolant before disconnecting her from the Grid and then returning her to Wakako to safety.
This is usually where your connection to 8ug8ear ends, making her a rather insignificant character. However, this mod will allow her to contact V after completing the quest, opening up a new storyline and even the opportunity to visit her apartment.
Relationships are revealed through over 200 new text messages, although the modder wants to keep most of them as a surprise. Judging by the screenshots, 8ug8ear has new tasks for V, some of which even involve a choice. The consequences of this choice will affect your relationship with 8ug8ear, which could lead to the end of the romance arc.
Based on player comments, it seems like there’s a lot of great stuff in this mod – and a lot of things that can go wrong during a romance. So watch your words and be a considerate partner. It looks like 8ug8ear expects more from V than vanilla novels.
