The RTX 4080 promised a lot but (fortunately for our wallets, and the future of the market) delivered little. The graphics card is not selling, and truly, NVIDIA no longer knows what to do to try to change the trend created after the launch.
The thing is so serious that even scalpers are trying to return the graphics card to stores, without much success. Which is exactly why NVIDIA’s current plan is to lower the price of the card to make it more competitive. A price cut that should happen in December, when the Radeon RX 7900 arrives on the shelves.
NVIDIA RTX 4080 is a flop! will drop in price
Therefore, the RTX 4080 was announced with a base price of 1200$, but in Portugal, the cheapest model is around 1500€. Well, as you can imagine, 1500€ for a graphics card that is not even top of the range… It is a clear exaggeration, and for that very reason, it is not sold.
Especially now that AMD has already announced its Radeon RX 7900 XT (899$) and 7900 XTX (999$), which despite not reaching the heels of the RTX 4090, the truth is that they are rivals at the height of the RTX 4080 and alleged RTX 4070 Ti, at a very interesting price.
Thus, as the first RDNA3 graphics cards from AMD hit the market in the coming days, it seems that NVIDIA has decided to lower the price of the RTX 4080 a little, to make it more competitive and attractive in the eyes of consumers.
This price cut should be announced in the coming days.
