Sony has unlocked PS Plus Essential games for December 2022. Subscribers have one month to add the new additions to their library. The games for Extra and Premium will be announced next week.
In line with today’s St. Nicholas Day, there are also “gifts” in the PlayStation Store, at least superficially. Because only members of a paid PlayStation Plus membership can download the new Essential games without having to pay an extra cent.
The new ones were announced Essential games for PS Plus already in the past week. In addition to Mass Effect Legendary Edition, subscribers to all three PS Plus tiers can add Biomutant and Divine Knockout to their library. The corresponding product entries in the PlayStation Store are linked below.

Once the PS Plus Essential games have been pushed into the library, they can be played without restriction. The situation is different for the games in the PS Plus Extra and Premium libraries. These do not have to be packed into the personal library within the month period. However, they can be withdrawn from the offer again over time, which means that the entitlement expires.
In return, the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium libraries will be expanded monthly. Sony is expected to reveal which new additions subscribers can expect in December on Wednesday next week, i.e. on December 14, 2022. The activation is expected to take place on December 20, 2022.
PS Plus in January 2023
The dates for January 2023 can also be predicted, which is not rocket science due to the fixed structure of PlayStation Plus. With only a few exceptions, PS Plus Essential games are always unlocked on the first Tuesday of the month and announced on the Wednesday of the previous week. The announcement and the unveiling of the PS Plus Extra and Premium games follow at intervals of one week.
For January 2023 this means (probably):
Essential announcement will be on December 28, 2022 Essential unlock will be on January 3, 2023 Extra/Premium announcement will be on January 11, 2023 Extra/Premium unlock will be on January 17, 2023
