If in the West the welcome reserved for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet by the press it turned out to be rather lukewarm overall, in Japan the Famitsu staff awarded the two new Pokemon games with very high marks.
Famitsu issue 1775 contains the reviews of Ishu Saikyou Ou Zukan Battle Colosseum, The Rumble Fish 2 e Pokemon Scarlet and Violet:
Ishu Saikyou Ou Zukan Battle Colosseum (Switch) – 6/7/8/6 [27/40]Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (Switch) – 9/10/10/9 [38/40]
The Rumble Fish 2 (PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch) – 8/7/8/7 [30/40]
If The Rumble Fish 2 and Ishu Saikyou Ou Zukan Battle Colosseum have received more than fair votes, in the case of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet we are talking about much higher votes, that is 9/10/10/9 for a total of 38/40just a breath away from the Perfect Score (40/40).
In Japan, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were hugely successful with over 2.5 million copies sold in the launch weekend and more than 500,000 copies sold last week alone, the same goes for Europe and the United States, in total the two games have already exceeded ten million copies distributed worldwide.
Despite the public success Pokemon Violet is the Pokemon game with the lowest Metascore ever on Metacritic.
