December 7th, 2022 at 9:30 p.m. by Karsten Scholz – After Sony, Ubisoft, Square Enix and Take-Two Interactive, Microsoft now also wants to raise the prices of games from its own studios. Titles like Starfield, Redfall or Forza Motorsport, which will appear in the coming year, should cost around 70 US dollars.
Everything is getting more expensive, including our favorite hobby. Various publishers such as Sony, Ubisoft, Square Enix and Take-Two Interactive first announced that they intend to raise the prices for games from the new console generation around the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X (from 60 to 70 to 80 euros) , then even the prices of the still hard-to-get PlayStation 5 were adjusted upwards (by 50 euros to 549.99 euros for the disc version), and let’s not even start with the horrendous graphics card prices.

Microsoft is also becoming more expensive
The prices remained stable at the competitor Microsoft. However, Xbox boss Phil Spencer announced in October 2022 that Microsoft would also have to react to market conditions at some point: “We kept the price of our console, we kept the price of our games and our subscription. I don’t think that we can do this forever.”
A Microsoft manager was now more specific to IGN (later confirmed by Kotaku): In the coming year, the games from the Microsoft studios should also cost around 70 instead of 60 US dollars (there was no precise information on the new prices for Germany). Starfield, Redfall and Forza Motorsport are among those affected (how would the prices have looked if Starfield and Redfall had been released in 2022 – as planned?).
