For obvious reasons.
The electric cross hatch Hyundai Ioniq 5, which debuted back in 2021, received certification for the Russian market. Back in January of this year, the Russian division of Hyundai officially announced plans to put this model on sale, scheduling the start of sales for the summer. After the events of February, the release of the cross-hatch had to be postponed indefinitely, but now there is clarity on this issue.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 received a Vehicle Type Approval (OTTS) on November 14th, but it went into effect today, December 8th. The received certificate will be valid until December 7, 2025.
According to OTTS, the “maximum 30-minute power” of one of the electric motors of the upcoming Russian novelty is 23 kW (31 hp), the second is 53 kW (72 hp). The battery for Ionic is declared one, the power reserve varies from 430 to 460 km.
In the summer of this year, OTTS for the Kia EV6 SUV also appeared in the Rosstandart database, but the manufacturer does not plan to officially supply its electric car to the Russian Federation. These cars boast similar technical characteristics, as they are built on the E-GMP platform, created specifically for electric cars.
Hyundai Ionic 5 was planned to be delivered to Russia only in a two-engine version, while the same Kia Ev6 was certified in both rear and all-wheel drive. Hyundai’s five-seater cross hatch is 4635mm long, 1890mm wide, 1605mm high and has a wheelbase of 3000mm.

It is also known that the list of equipment of the Russian Ioniq 5 will include heated mirrors, heated seats, power seats and climate control. The future buyer will optionally have access to a solar panel on the roof. In any case, there is no talk of direct deliveries from Korea yet. How this car will be delivered to the Russian Federation is a big question.
