CEO Microsoft Gaming Phil Spencer on podcast Second Request and spoke about the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard. He stated that there was only one major opponent to the merger, and that was Sony.
Sony is trying to defend its dominance on consoles. And she wants to ensure their growth by reducing the Xbox. Sony has a very different view of the industry than we do. She doesn’t release her games directly on PC, she doesn’t give access to them by subscription on the day of release. Sony is starting to think about mobile devices, I can see it just by what the company is doing.
