On the night of December 9, Los Angeles hosted the 9th annual The Game Awards (similar to the Oscars in the cinema world). We will have a separate article about the main trailers and announcements of games from the presentation, but here we will briefly summarize and tell you who won The Game Awards 2022.
In general, there were no surprises – most of the awards were shared between the two main favorites of the current race: Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarök. The main prize in the category “Best Game of the Year” was won by Elden Ring. In addition to the main award, the project FromSoftware and Bandai Namco additionally received three more awards – for directing, visual style and best RPG.
As for God of War Ragnarök, Santa Monica Studio’s project was the overall winner of The Game Awards 2022, winning in six categories, including Best Short Story and Best Action Adventure Game.
Horizon Forbidden West, which claimed seven awards, did not receive a single one (probably, God of War Ragnarök has exhausted the entire limit). Stray and Final Fantasy XIV each have two awards.

The best mobile game of 2022 was the card Marvel Snap by Ben Broad (one of the authors of Hearthstone).
Game of the Year: Player’s Voice – the only TGA nomination where the winner is determined by an absolute majority of user votes – was won by Genshin Impact. On the eve of the final stage of voting between fans of Genshin and Sonic Frontiers, a struggle unleashed – with mutual images on social networks and cheating votes using bots and voting workarounds. However, Sonic connoisseurs finally gave in to their counterparts from the club of fans of the Chinese “gacha” game. During the announcement of the winner at the ceremony, Jeff Keely noted that the organizers filtered out all the votes of the bots when counting.
