December 9th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. by Matthias Brückle – Roguelike fans can rejoice: Hades 2 is the sequel to the popular Hades! In this we slip into the role of a new heroine who meets other gods and faces new enemies. We have summarized the most important information for you – and the trailer is ready!
Hades fans dropped their jaws at the Game Awards 2022: The ingenious roguelite (modest opinion of editor Matthias interspersed) gets a surprising sequel with Hades 2. So far, the folks at Supergiant Games (Bastion, Transistor, Pyre) hadn’t released any sequels – in that sense, hardly anyone could count on a sequel. But this was shown in a magnificent trailer with the first gameplay scenes on the night of December 8th to 9th, 2022. What can we expect in the sequel? There are first details!
Hades 2 in the trailer: new protagonist, new gods
In the sequel, you no longer slip into the role of Zagreus, but play his sister Melinoë, who, like Zagreus, also has its origins in well-known mythology. In Hades 2, she is a fighter who, with the help of her mentor Hekate, descends into the underworld to defeat the titan Chronos and free the god Hades – so it’s a reversal of the gameplay of the previous game we’re talking about wanted to break out of the underworld. We are also helped by gods who did not appear in the first part – such as the sun god Apollo and the god of damnation Moros and the goddess of revenge Nemesis (whose sword we were already allowed to use).
Hades 2: Surprising sequel reveals itself in the trailer
According to the developers, no prior knowledge of Hades or knowledge of Greek mythology is required to play and have fun with Hades 2. Still, players should be rewarded with this knowledge in mind. There is already an official Hades 2 FAQ on the Supergiant Games website.
