This announcement also whistled the sparrows from the rooftops in the run-up to the Game Awards, now it’s official: The PS5 blockbuster Horizon: Forbidden West will receive a new major expansion next year with “Burning Shores”.
Horizon: Forbidden West, released in February of this year, is one of the best games of the year, and the story about Aloy will continue in 2023. At the Game Awards last night, Sony announced the add-on “Burning Shores” for PlayStation 5, after speculation had already spread around the web; However, there is no mention of a PS4 version on the PlayStation Blog.
“Burning Shores” should cause a sensation on April 19, 2023 on the Sony console. Aloy pursues a new sinister threat in the untamed wilderness of Los Angeles, now a treacherous volcanic archipelago.
Picking up right after the conclusion of Horizon: Forbidden West itself, the new story features new characters, adventures and more as Aloy travels to the dangerous new region south of the Tenakth clan territory. Further information on this will follow shortly.
Speaking on the PlayStation Blog of the add-on’s announcement, “Our creative vision for Burning Shores is an ambitious expansion that takes Aloy to the ruins of Los Angeles. This overgrown and devastated city can navigate across water and fly on their backs of a sunwing can be fully explored. However, a huge machine menace lurks in the shadows – a great challenge that Aloy will have to overcome with all her skills and abilities. In order to be able to technically and creatively implement this great vision, we made the difficult decision to bring all to focus our efforts on creating an incredible gaming experience exclusively for the PlayStation 5 console.”
Horizon: Forbidden West is available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
