It was to be expected that Elden Ring would not walk away from the recent Game Awards without awards. What the development studio From Software is now also making a name for itself is the announcement of a new game. However, this is not a Souls game, but a successor to an old series of games.
Mech-like instead of Souls-like
The sixth part of the Armored Core series called Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon was announced last night with a beautiful, cinematic trailer. Before From Software permanently changed the gaming world with their formula for success, which started with Demon’s Souls, the studio was known for the mech action series, among other things. The Armored Core games are essentially third-person shooters in which you control large mech robots and fine-tune them between missions. If you exclude spin-offs, mobile games and so on, Armored Core still boasts 13 titles all about brutal robot action. The fifth and last part up to the Game Awards came out in 2012.

Roboter-Souls?
Other than the trailer, we don’t have any specific information on gameplay or anything like that yet. It is unclear whether From Software will mix elements from their most recently successful games into Armored Core and otherwise change the formula.
It’s also possible that they’ll stick with the old concept of the mech series and simply take it to a new level with a bigger budget. In any case, the joy of Armored Core fans online is great. And after projects like Elden Ring, we can certainly expect another quality product from From Software.

From Software will release a massive DLC for Elden Ring tomorrow. We have the trailer for the update for you!
It’s definitely interesting to see that From Software don’t seem to have forgotten about their legacy franchises. So where the journey to Armored Core VI will lead to cannot be said with certainty. It might be worth taking a look at their older games catalogue. So the future work of From Software remains interesting. As is so often the case, we still have to wait – but not that long: Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon for PC, PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S is scheduled to appear as early as 2023.
