Christmas is fast approaching, and what could be better than watching a cozy Christmas movie? You will also find a fine selection on Disney Plus.
All ready for Christmas? Disney Plus as well. This selection of Christmas movies will keep you going at least until December 25 (and maybe even beyond).
The Santa Clause (1994) en The Santa Clauses (2022)
One of the classics in the Christmas movie genre, that has to be The Santa Clause. Because if you accidentally kill Santa Claus, then you logically have to take over his job. Scott Calvin is therefore rushing to deliver packages to all children on Christmas night. Are you crazy about this movie? Then you can also watch The Santa Clauses on Disney Plus, a miniseries about Scott who is looking for a successor.
Home Alone 1 in 2 (1990, 1992)
Usually you get to see the Home Alone movies on TV around the holidays, but why wait? The Home Alone series begins with Kevin McAllister who is forgotten at home by his parents when his family goes on vacation. As a result, he suddenly has to compete against a bunch of burglars, which he brings to a hilarious success. In Home Alone 2 there is a similar situation, where Kevin ends up in New York on his own. The Home Alone series has a few more sequels, but the first two remain the most brilliant.
Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas (2011)
If you are more for an animated film, you can also appeal to the Ice Age series during the Christmas period. In this film, sloth Sid goes to the North Pole together with mammoth Peaches and possums Crash and Eddie. Sid broke mammoth Manny’s Christmas decorations, so Sid now thinks he’s on the naughty list.
Die Hard (1988)
It remains an eternal discussion: is Die Hard a Christmas movie or not? We think so, if only because it takes place during the Christmas period. Police officer John McClane must save his wife and her colleagues from terrorists during what should normally be a Christmas party. Even if you don’t see Die Hard as a Christmas movie, it just remains a great classic packed with action.
The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)
We all know “A Christmas Carol”, the multi-filmed story in which the embittered Ebenezer Scrooge has to deal with three Christmas ghosts from the past, present and future. The Muppets also gave their own twist to this widely known book. All well-known Muppets such as Kermit and Miss Piggy are reviewed.
Bonus: The Simpsons Meet The Bocellis in ‘Merry Christmas’ (from December 15)
If you don’t have the time for an entire movie, or if you just want something new to look forward to, there’s The Simpsons. In this short film, Homer has a special surprise for Marge: a special performance by opera singer Andrea Bocelli and two of his children. The short will be available on Disney Plus from December 15.
