Over the past few decades, so many foreign borrowings have appeared in the Russian language that in especially neglected cases in one sentence they can account for almost half of the text. The situation is unpleasant, and at one time the State Duma decided to fight for the purity of the Russian language. Today it became known that the lower house of parliament in the first reading adopted a bill on the protection of the Russian language from foreign borrowings.
The idea of the bill is to ensure that officials and citizens observe the norms of the literary Russian language and avoid excessive use of borrowed words and terms, except in cases where the borrowed word does not have a commonly used analogue in the Russian language contained in standard dictionaries.

At this stage, it is not clear how to deal with such generally accepted terms as, for example, the same “computer”, which technically, although it has a Russian-language analogue of “ECM” – “electronic computer” – but in everyday life it is practically not used. I would like to believe that they won’t “run off” with the new bill.
