Very few hours have passed since the sequel of information with which Warner Bros Games has bombarded us. Indeed, the publisher of Hogwarts Legacy informed us that the latest effort from Avalanche Software will not arrive everywhere at the same time. The game, expected on all platforms – including Nintendo Switch – will not see a debut at the same time. The software house needs more time to optimize on old-gen. Translated it means that, while owners of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S will be able to play it regularly in February (by the way, it’s in the gold phase) for PS4 and Xbox One users will have to wait until April. Even worse if you plan to try it on Nintendo Switch. Hybrid users will be forced to wait until July.
During the second showcase dedicated to Hogwarts Legacy (we analyzed the first one at the time), in addition to the usual look at the interiors and exteriors of the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry created by JK Rowling for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the main information they concern some of the magical creatures and, above all, the arena for the dark arts presented on the occasion of the reveal of the Collector Edition.
Let’s start with this since it seems to be the most interesting feature. First of all we have to give some bad news: it will not be freely accessible to everyone. The Arena is in fact an additional content that must be purchased separately. Once unlocked though, the arena will be accessible deep within the Forbidden Forest. It is a place to practice precisely with the dark arts in order to decide whether or not it is appropriate to embark on a “bad” path. As we had already explained in a previous news item, Hogwarts Legacy è un RPG story driven e free-roaming. The choices – curious, the same concept that Albus Dumbledore often insisted on – are important. Here, the developers assure, our decisions will condition the ending we will be facing.
About Free roaming. We know that we will be able to move around the castle and its surroundings on the back of a flying broom. Good news for those who love all types of “bolides”. Get ready to be able to customize that too, from the handle to the sorghum, there won’t be a single mount model. Of course, don’t expect the Nimbus 2000 or the much more powerful Firebolt (both introduced only later).
Furthermore, as already explained, the broom will not be our only means of transport. In fact, if we prove ourselves worthy of doing so, we will also be able to ride a Hippogriff.
Curious note: the passage of time will affect not just the day/night cycle as one might expect. We will also see the changing of the seasons: summer, autumn, winter and spring, each with its own particular characteristics.
Do you have the soul of Newt Scamander? Very good. The wizarding world is inhabited by fantastic animals and Hogwarts Legacy tells you exactly where to find them: in the highlands surrounding the castle. However, these are also dangerous places. You don’t think poachers are a muggle-only trait, do you? Through your character you will be able to take care of these creatures by offering them shelter and food as well as defending them from the bad guys.
