Having announced yesterday the availability of games from the Stream catalog for owners of restyled versions of Model S and Model X, it began taking orders for a branded 1TB solid-state drive, which costs $350 in the official online store.

However, while you can only place a pre-order, and the direct delivery of the accessory will begin in February next year. The automaker emphasizes that the device is designed to work inside vehicles, and therefore tolerate extreme temperatures, vibration and shock without any problems. It must be placed in the glove box; the package includes a cable with USB Type-A (female) and Type-C (male) connectors for connecting to the on-board multimedia system.
You can store not only games on the drive, but also recordings from on-board cameras, which, in armed mode, record everything that happens both around the car and inside it. Such records can take up an impressive amount, so the storage capacity reaches 1 TB. Previously, car owners connected third-party drives to the Tesla on-board system, now they have the opportunity to purchase a branded solid state drive. True, if a third-party solution can be bought for $100, then a branded one costs three and a half times more.
Tesla emphasizes that its drive offers an extended operating life, and data read and write speeds are optimized for games. It will allow owners of restyled Tesla Model X and Model S to store games that are compatible with Steam Deck, since the in-flight entertainment system is content with only 16 GB of storage. The Tesla drive is compatible with all models of the brand’s electric vehicles, as noted on the automaker’s website.
