ElonJet is now effectively suspended from Twitter. This is reported by the student who shared the flight details of Elon Musk’s private jet with the account.
Jack Sweeney has long shared the flight routes of the tech guru’s private jet. That Musk is now Twitter’s new CEO may have a lot to do with his blocking. However, Sweeney simply used publicly available flight data to map Musk’s travel behavior via @ElonJet. The student now comes up with the melding that his account has now been blocked. At least, before he also went under his alias JxckSweeney was blocked. The responses to his original post are still visible.
Last weekend, Sweeney already showed with screenshots that his reach on Twitter was being limited. That reports Engadget. On Monday, it suddenly seemed to the student that he was again on Twitter without restrictions. But then (Wednesday afternoon) ElonJet and Sweeney’s personal account JxckSweeney were completely blocked. That same day, Twitter announced that it had changed its policy on private information. It states that sharing someone’s live location is not allowed. That was the big stick that the social media platform needed.
ElonJet was not bought off
In January of 2022, Musk (a few months before his announced takeover) came up with the striking proposal to pay Sweeney $ 5,000 if he wanted to delete his account. The teenager did not think that was enough, so he asked for $ 50,000, but Musk did not respond.
However, after his takeover, brand new CEO Elon Musk announced that he did not intend to block ElonJet. At the same time, he called it “a direct risk to his personal safety”. It is not clear whether Musk himself proceeded with the (permanent) suspension of the account, or whether another Twitter employee made the decision.
BBC News now reports that Elon Musk has also sued the American student for following his plane.
ElonJet had more than half a million Twitter followers and a version of the bot is still active on Instagram.
