The Witcher 3 next-gen update adds a lot to the legendary role-playing game, but some players felt that some important things were missing. Reddit user JT-117 didn’t find one of Yennefer’s sex scenes where she was supposed to be in the story.
We are talking about the closeness scene of Geralt and Yen in Kaer Morhen – other spicy inserts supposedly remained in their places. Fans have speculated that this scene may have been removed due to compatibility issues with one of the mods that was added as part of the official update.
The Witcher 3 next-gen patch notes state that the update used a number of “community-created and community-inspired” mods. These include The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project by HalkHogan, HD Monsters Reworked by Denroth, Nitpicker’s Patch by chuckcash, world map fixes by Terg500, and real-time immersive cutscenes by Teiji25. The last of the mods was suspected in the disappearance of one of the important sex scenes in the game.
A similar problem with the specified mod was observed back in 2020 – some scenes from the game refused to play due to the lack of compatible animations. The episode in Kaer Morhen was on the list of incompatible scenes due to “incomplete animation data of deer/wolf parts”. If you’ve never played The Witcher 3 or seen this particular scene, don’t worry about the “stag and wolf parts”, they are related to the cutscene.

After some time, it turned out that for many users the scene remained in its place. A number of comments on the now-deleted original post on Reddit spoke about this. The scene was not only in its place, but was also updated with a graphic patch. Most likely, the matter was in the installed old mods or their remnants that were not completely removed when updating a previously installed version of the game.
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that no scenes from the game have been removed and it’s a matter of mod compatibility.
No scenes were cut, but there are reports of mods interfering.

Summing up the story, we can say that all the scenes of the game really remained in their places. In this, as in other similar cases with different games, a clean installation can be useful. It’s also often wise to wait some time after release before playing a new or majorly updated game – urgent updates are far from uncommon in such cases.
