Among the most anticipated games for 2023 is undoubtedly the name of Starfield, the new IP developed by Bethesda Softworks expected on Windows PC and Xbox Series X|S. Waiting to return to admire it in action, the company returns to tell us about the game by revealing new details on the quest system.
In a new interview that appeared on the official Bethsda pages, Lead Quest Designer Will Shen told us about the quest di Starfield and how much they can be replayable based on your choices of the players and the consequent reactions of the NPCs that will populate the boundless game universe.
Shen first of all specified how Bethesda has drawn from its “old school RPG roots: Lots of dialogue choices, references to player skills and background, a variety of combat and non-combat activities, highlighting our all-new setting in a way that tells you where to go for the kind of stories you want to experience.”
The Lead Quest Designer then suggests an important level of replayability in Starfield, defining the concept of a player’s choice key theme in the design of the world itself.
“Choice is always important“He said. “Both the choices players will make, and the choices people and the world can make in response. So when I type things up, I usually say ‘okay, the player just did X, how would their allies and enemies respond? What’s the best move they could make? If they can’t make that move, why not?” There’s always some better option you might be missing out on, but if it makes sense at least from a gameplay perspective, hopefully you get the sense that the story is shaping itself to your decisions”
Recently, Bethesda shared new information about random encounters, alien cities and planets of Strafield.
