The PlayStation 5 makes better use of raw GPU power than the Xbox Series X, says WRC Generations developer.
Game developers have spent a lot of time with the current consoles Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 in the last two years. So you have a good feeling about the hardware by now.
In terms of processor performance, the Xbox Series X GPU is theoretically ahead at 12 teraflops and 52 CUs compared to the PlayStation 5, which is only 10.28 teraflops and 36 CUs.
Still, the benefits lie in the raw GPU power on the PlayStation 5, according to Benoit Jacquier, Technical Director at KT Racing.
The WRC Generations developer said: “Due to the higher clock speed, the PS5 gives us direct, simpler performance advantages over the previous generation. While the Xbox Series X’s raw GPU power is better, it’s harder to exploit – it requires better parallelism to take advantage of the 52 CUs. But I suppose developers can get better performance on Xbox Series X in the long run.”
It will be interesting to see how this will evolve in the years to come as the previous generation is left behind and developers can only focus on the current consoles without cross-gen.
