Rumors that Xbox was absent from The Game Awards 2022 finally came to fruition, as Geoff Keighley’s show went by without any notable announcements coming from Redmond. The gaming community is understandably eager to find out more details about the numerous first-parties that are taking shape at the Xbox family studios.
Their time is about to arrive, at least according to various rumors that are gradually gaining more and more share. It was in the first instance that put the flea in our ear Jesus Corden of Windows Central, which last December 10, after the Game Awards, spoke of the possible broadcasting of an Xbox Showcase at the beginning of 2023. According to the editor, this event would be destined to follow the formula of the X0, shows that in the pre-pandemic era included the presence of the public, a look at the video games already on the market and previews of the titles in the works.
Corden’s anticipations have been reinforced by other hard-to-ignore evidence, all of which has emerged in recent days. First, Rand at Thor 19, another usually well-informed personality, says he heard right two different sources talk about an Xbox Showcase in early 2023. To his words are added:
A deleted tweet from Todd Kaumans of the Microsoft marketing department, which essentially confirmed the birth of Xbox Studio, a reality presumably engaged in the creation of shows in the style of Nintendo Direct and PlayStation State of Play;
Aaron Greenberg which reassures players by explaining that they won’t have to wait much longer to find out new details about Xbox games;
The advances of the two Forza teamsTurn 10 e Playground Studios.
Regarding this last observation, we recall that last September Turn 10 gave us an appointment at the beginning of 2023 for new information on Forza Motorsport next-gen. The same thing has been done by Playground Studios, which has set the disclosure of the first information on the second expansion of Forza Horizon 5 for the first months of next year. Do you know what these two reveals could host? That’s right, just a properly done Xbox Showcase. In the light of all this evidence, even Jez Corden admitted that what were only “vague rumours” they’re starting to look pretty real.
What games would you like to see at such an event? And why Fable, Everwild, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, Avowed, Perfect Dark and State of Decay 3?
