Studio EA Sports traditionally, on the eve of the World Cup, it conducts a simulation of the tournament. The results do not always fully match reality, but the developers managed to predict the winner of the current tournament using FIFA 23.
For the simulation, HyperMotion2 technology and the ratings of the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar were used. All 64 tournament matches were played in Kick-Off and Tournament modes. And, although the final prediction was not entirely accurate (Brazil was in the top three teams), the success of Argentina and France was confirmed.
According to the simulation, Argentina came out on top in the tournament, and the outcome of the final match was decided by a single goal scored by Messi. As we remember, in reality the gap was two points, and it was determined only after a penalty shoot-out. Although Messi really played a very important role in this.
FIFA 23 also predicted that Lionel Messi would become the best player in the championship (come true) and receive the Golden Ball (did not come true). But the counting of goals turned out to be accurate: the legendary footballer really scored eight goals during the tournament.
For the fourth time in a row, the FIFA series has been able to accurately predict the winners of the World Cup. Recall that the simulation gave France the victory in 2018, Germany in 2014, and Spain in 2010. Now we can wait to see how EA Sports will predict the 2026 World Cup, which should be held in Mexico, Canada and the United States.
