Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for Oppenheimer. This is a historical drama by Christopher Nolan that tells about Robert Oppenheimer – a man who is not sure how serious the consequences of developing an atomic bomb will be, but still feels the need to create one.
“We imagine the future, and our fantasies terrify us,” says Oppenheimer’s voice-over at the beginning of the trailer, as footage of him in rural New Mexico is shown.
“They won’t be afraid of it until they understand,” he continues amidst footage of the bomb being created. “And they won’t understand it until they use it.”
“I don’t know if we can be trusted with such weapons, but I have no choice,” says further in the trailer.
Oppenheimer is Christopher Nolan’s first film since his split from Warner Bros. Christopher Nolan is played by Cillian Murphy. The film also stars Kenneth Branagh, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Jack Quaid, Josh Peck and others.
The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Byrd and Martin J. Sherwin.
