The film adaptation of the third-person multiplayer shooter Tom Clancy’s The Division has been postponed indefinitely. This was announced by the producer of the film, Kelly McCormick, in an interview with the foreign portal DiscussingFilm. The creators felt that releasing during the coronavirus pandemic was not the best time.
“Honestly, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, we left The Division because the film felt like a documentary. You know, in the sense that the story is about an outbreak that takes place in the real world, about the dangers and the anxiety that it causes. It was like, “Stop, this isn’t fun anymore.” It’s like we’ve all literally had to go through this in real life. I think we could try again. It’s a cool intellectual property and we could have done something amazing by showing a team of agents in such a post-apocalyptic perspective, but we really ended up leaving this case because of COVID-19, ”said Kelly McCormick.
Rawson Marshall Thurber is directing The Division, with Ellen Shanman co-writing the script. The main characters should be played by Jake Gyllenhaal (Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Spider-Man: Far From Home) and Jessica Chastain (Agent Eve, The Great Game).
