Independent Developers LuciusDXL, Winterheart and Gilorem560 completed work on a remaster of the classic shooter Star Wars: Dark Forcesreleased in 1995.
The project was named The Force Engine, and work on it was carried out for three years. The Force Engine is a complete rework Jedi Engine from the 90s. The project is actually a 4K remaster of the original Dark Forces, intended to replace the DosBox emulator in the version Steam. It supports native 320×200 resolution and ultra-wide displays.
The Force Engine will delight not only with the improved graphics of Dark Forces, but also with additional modern features such as full view with the mouse and a new save system. To immerse yourself in the classic atmosphere, these functions can be turned off.
In 2023, the developers plan to implement cross-platform support for Linux and Mac, as well as complete work on the remaster Outlaws is a western-style shooter that also uses the Jedi Engine.
